in a screaming ring of faces i seen her standing in the light
Like the spanish city to me when we were kids, and the big wheel keep on turning neon burning up above
she said you are the perfect stranger she said baby let s keep it like this
On the tunnel of love, come on and take a low ride with me girl
and i m just high on the world
Money for muscle and another girl i dig, come on and take a low ride with me girl Love, on the tunnel of love
and girl it looks so pretty to me just like it always did
And rockaway rockaway, and now i m searching through these carousels and the carnival arcades Of, like the spanish city to me when we were kids
on the tunnel of love
Like the spanish city to me when we were kids, i put a hand upon the lever said let it rock and let it roll Straits, come on and take a low ride with me girl
On the tunnel of love, and now i m searching through these carousels and the carnival arcades
And now i m searching through these carousels and the carnival arcades, i could have caught up with her easy enough but something must have made me Love, and i been riding on a ghost train where the cars they scream and slam
to rockaway rockaway from cullercoats and whitley bay out to rockaway
Oh girl it looks so pretty to me just like it always did, like the spanish city to me when we were kids, on the tunnel of love
and rockaway rockaway
Money for muscle and another girl i dig, searching everywhere from steeplechase to palisades, like the spanish city to me when we were kids
On the tunnel of love, on the tunnel of love
and rockaway rockaway
Like the spanish city to me when we were kids, and i m just high on the world
And i m just high on the world, and girl it looks so pretty to me just like it always did, i put a hand upon the lever said let it rock and let it roll
Like a lot of wanna be guitar players, when I first started playing I aspired to be an Eddie Van Halen or Steve Vai, one of those guys who can play crazy fast, since they were supposedly the 'best' guitar players. Then I heard this song, and wow. My favorite guitar solo of all time hands down. Its like listening to someones heart coming out a speaker. Just spellbinding. A hundred years from now Mark Knopflers Wiki entry should just be this song, it speaks for itself.
I'm a single parent raising my 19 month son and every night without fail this song is the last thing he hears as he closes his eyes to sleep . I want him to appreciate the purest things in life .
As i sit here typing this, it is April 2020. I am 45 years old. I 1st heard of Dire Straits when i was 10 years old back in 1985 by my father. Very quickly, I was so obsessed with them. If you named a song i could tell you how long it went for, what album, what track number, & how many (if any) different versions (such as live) their were. Why? Emotional content. Because Mark Knopfler played/plays with emotional content, because i listened to it with emotional content. It is 2020, & nothing - and i mean NOTHING - grabs my heart as much as Mark Knopfler does!! Laugh at all me all you want, i don't care. But, like when i was 10 years old, at 45 i STILL wanna grow up to play like Mark Knopfler does. Nothing has moved me as much as his music. Nothing! I wish i was good enough to play guitar like Jimi Hendrix, Slash, Joe Satriani, .... but all i wanna do is just play like Mark Knopfler does. Naturally. Not forced. I STILL love it, & it STILL moves me, just like it did 35 years ago when i was 10 years old. Thanks for 43 or so years of great, invaluable music!
