I've looked for this song for years. I could not remember the title until today when I Googled 'no bird can fly'. I remember my dad singing this and it still haunts me. I was born in 1947 so must have been only 6 when it made an impact on me. RIP now dad - xx.
When I look at charts from the UK I see not a recording from dickie valentine in the chart in 1953, what I do see is a recording from the Stargazers which was in the chart at april 10 1953 with the same number, the only entry in feb 1953 was a song from Perry Como - Don't let the stars get in your eyes
