once we were standing still in time
where are you going to
When you look behind you, where are you going to
Laughin at the questions, to those questions can be do you know where you re going to Know, what are you hoping for
Where are you going to, laughin at the questions To), what you re hoping for
there s no open door
Do you like the things that life is showing you, now looking back at all we ve planned, there s no open door
Where are you going to, do you like the things that life is showing you
But my spirit was free, chasing the fantasies
where are you going to
just slip through our hands
Do you like the things that life is showing you, there s no open door
When you look behind you, do you like the things that life is showing you
where are you going to
That filled our minds, when you look behind you
Now looking back at all we ve planned, we let so many dreams
There s no open door, when you look behind you, where are you going to
there s no open door
What are you hoping for, when you look behind you Where, to those questions can be do you know where you re going to
There s no open door, where are you going to
Just wanted to say that, at the age of 40, and in my current place in life...this song has a lot of meaning for me...
There are a lot of aspects of my life that I am proud of and a lot of aspects of my life that I wish I could do over and change
A classic. Wonderful in all regards. Touches the human inner most part of us all. Enduring. This song has all the most - it touches us ALL. "Do you know where you're going to - do you like the things that life is showing you?" Class all by itself.
I couldn't remember this song for the life of me. Then, one day on the satellite radio it comes on. In 1987, I met this girl and we had a wonderful week together. One night we were enjoying each other`s company and this song comes on. I could hear the excitement in her voice. "Hey this song was my graduation song." I never forgot her even though we only spent a week together. I often wondered what ever happened to her.
So sad to hear about the passing of legendary songwriter and producer Michael Masser. He contributed so many incredible songs to the Diana Ross song book. "To this day, the template Ross forged with Michael Masser has remained unique, and influential to new generations of balladeers, But more importantly, the music itself has lost none of its honesty, warmth and romance." - Brian Chin (2003 "To Love Again -
if you have never seen this movie
rent it
Billy Dee Williams was the denziel Washington of his day....diana Ross was still Diana Ross ...
I think she and Gene Simmons have a love child.
for real
When I first heard this song in late 1975, I was dealing with double losses, first losing my father tragically and then a relationship breakup. The first line had me hooked, "Do you know where you're going to?...Do you like the things that life is showing you?" My answer at that time was "NO!" to both questions. This song was very much a picture of my life in late 1975. Never saw the movie but this song tugs at my heart 40 years later. Probably my favorite by Diana Ross.
Still such a richly beautiful song.. and I had forgotten how cool the ad for the movie was ! I remember this played for a very long time at the Loew's Kings theater in Brooklyn, a gigantic ornate movie palace with chandeliers, statues, red drapes, columns, murals and trims of gold.. very fitting for Diana Ross and this song. Ironic and great that, Ross was the opening act when the theater reopened not long ago as a theater for live shows. And proud to have been seen it !
