I know this song has probably gone down in history as something like "post-alternative pap by a one-hit-wonder," but I think the song is terribly unappreciated. I can't think of another song that so efficiently describes the multi-generational relationship issues where a couple gets together over mutual interests instead of shared values and eventually discovers that they have nothing to ground their relationship. They were likely focusing on GenX'ers when they wrote the lyrics, but this was a thing before with the Boomers and got worse with every generation after. It's become a cultural and marketing norm that people are supposed to be attracted to each other when they find they have a shared special interest (in the case of this song, "classic film"), but eventually you learn it's a really poor foundation to build upon. Can someone tell me another pop song that nails this concept so well? To me, these lyrics are like if Stephin Merritt wrote a less lyrical song based upon how he talks, or a Chuck Klosterman article in song form. Goofy band and video aside, it's an incredible song!

And I said, what about Breakfast at Tiffany's? She said, do you mean the book or the film? And I said, I meant the song that I'm singing And she said, lots of things have that name

Even though these guys are American, I'm getting a little bit of a British/Irish vibe.

its funny how almost every time you think of something to comment you can find someone else or many others that have said the same thing. i love how music evokes such vivid emotions in all of us, no matter what walk of life we come from

The first "Tiffanys" that I'd heard of was this night-club in my hometown previously known as The Oxford Galleries. The idea of having "Breakfast at Tiffanys" (amongst the cleaners cleaning up from the night before) seemed ludicrous to me! I used to call it "Breakfast at the Oxford Galleries" (the film)

And I said, "What about, Brexit at Tiffany's?" She said, "I think we are Americans" And as I recall, "I think we both kinda came form UK" And I said, "Well, that's the one thing that we got OK"

I saw the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's once, the best part of the whole movie was Mickey Rooney's performance as her landlord.

I listened to this CD until it almost broke. But then they rejected my friend request on MySpace so they're dead to me.
