8:03.... It's so fleeting. It's like momentary happiness being shredded before the grimmest of realities

A shame they didn't pursue this direction on later releases...

The text for the hymn in the recording from the Monks of Chevetogne and in Carnal Malefactor are in Russian and are as follows: Izhe kheruvimy tayno, tayno obrazuyushche, obrazuyushche, I zhivotvoryashchey Troytsye, trisvyatuyu pyesn’, trisvyatuyu pyesn’ pripyevashche, pripyevashche, trisvyatuyu pyesn’ pripyevashche. Vsyakoye nynye, nynye zhityeskoye otlozhim popyecheniye, otlozhim, otlozhim, otlozhim, popyecheniye. Amin’. Yako da Tsarya vsyekh podymyem, Yako da Tsarya vsyekh podymyem, vsyekh podymem! Angelskimi nyevidimo dorinosima chinmi, dorinosima chinmi, alleluia! Translation: Let us represent the cherubim in mystic harmony, mystic harmony, praise the Father, Son and Spirit, raise our three-fold song, raise our three-fold song, praise the Trinity, praise the Trinity, raise our three-fold song to the Trinity, Let us now cast aside, cast aside, let us cast aside all this earthly life, cast aside, cast aside, cast aside, all this earthly life. Amen. King of all, we may receive God the King, we may receive Him! He who in glory enters in with mighty hosts of angels, with mighty hosts of angels. Alleluia!

Actually, the more I listen to this, I find it more depressing than scary. The slow churning of the song coupled with the lyrics of a suffering world ... it's almost tearjerking. Although that Hymn of the Cherubim does still make it pretty unsettling.

Somehow, the use of "Hymn of the Cherubim" only serves to make this song even scarier.

Wonderful eastern orthodox choir in the middle there. Very interested to know more about that ensemble.

Let us, who mystically represent the cherubim and sing the thrice-holy hymn to the life-giving trinity, lay aside all worldly cares, that we may receive the King of all, invisibly escorted by the angelic hosts. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
