When if first listened to EDM when I was like 13 or 14 I listened to house, and i still consider 1:14 to be a drop even today. People are just tainted by instant gratification and taking things to the extreme even if it doesn't make something better
Deadmau5 is a style, no just a composer.
With the music of deadmau5 you have to let go, close your eyes and feel every beat and every minute. No is just a song, is a mix of feelings and sounds.
No is this music based on publicity and make money, this music is art and a pure sound of Deadmau5 style. With real synthetizers and a variable mix of sounds and samplers.
Is music for composers that value the pure sound a song. No is a song about 3:40 minutes for a party.
Its one of the best artist about the electronic music.
Love it!

wow I am ashamed at the people who compare this to Big Room and skrillex that have nothing to do with this. Skrillex is good in his own way. This is good in its own way. Everyone needs to chill out!
People seem to forget that Joel's roots were, as simply put, very basic house / semi-trance feel. His style was unique because of that early 'mau5' sound (Faxing Berlin, Not Exactly, Arguru), despite how simple it might have been.
This newest track is pretty much similar to all the great stuff he's done before that just sounded good. Maybe people here get upset because he doesn't come out with a wicked bass kick nobody's heard before, more dubstep, or some sort of unheard of glitch pop rhythm. If you're expecting those things you clearly don't know Joel very well.
This took the full 9-minute listen - and another - to fully appreciate the brains behind it. Yes, it's a (not so) simple melody, played out on synthetic xylophone, but it then mutates - all the while keeping it's 21-note DNA intact.
One might get bored listening to this, but I found myself getting excited and wanting to dance.
Impressive stuff, Joel.
For the people calling the new tracks boring, or lacking a proper drop, here's what deadmau5 himself had to say about the new album, straight from the mau5trap front page:
"It’s not just about making a dance hit or the brand — I love engineering music of all time… I’ve done hip-hop tracks, glitch tracks, piano concertos, and dance hits. I think a large part of my fan base knows that, so this is for them. And if it’s not for them, then maybe I’ll attract some new fans who aren’t so E.D.M."
The fact that people identify anything deadmau5 does as "dubstep" is sad. He has stated that he does not make dubstep, in fact he hates the way dubstep has changed music, his music is progressive electronic. So no, no massive drops. No screaming bass lines. Just deadmau5's chill beats that he has always made.
