I was angry with my friend;
I told my wrath, my wrath did end;
I was angry with my foe;
I told it not, my wrath did grow
And I watered it in fears
Nights and mornings with my tears
And I sunned wit smiles
And with soft deceitful wiles
And it grew both day and night
Till it bore an apple bright
And my foe beheld it shine
And he knew that it was mine
And intomy garden stole
Wherether night had veil the pole
In the morning glad I see
My foe outstretched beneath the tree
PLEASE... this is the furthest thing on earth from hiphop. Sampling ( or stealing someone elses work) does not constitute talent or originality. Do you know how many modern "artists" have stolen others work, bernard purdy is a prime example, never made millions, but his stolen tracks have sold millions of copies for those who sampled him FOR SHAME, or do these guys have no shame - you decide blueboy
It's hard to explain it to someone who just doesn't understand it, without getting into an arguement. But there IS an art to sampling. Now I can somewhat agree with you about just blatantly stealing tracks. But that's not what sampling in hip hop is about. Sometimes, it can simply be about exposing great older music to the ears of the newer generation. Sometimes, its about reworking something that you feel may be forgotten or unheard, and making something new with it. It's just not for everyone.
This tune was my first experience of Axelrod. I remember the moment. Browsing through Herbie Hancock CDs at my local record store, and this tune comes on. After 60 seconds I find myself asking the guy at the counter what was playing. Axelrod he says. I spend another 10 minutes in the store. I go up to pay for 'Man Child' by Hancock. I also ask for a copy of the Axelrod CD. It's the last one I'm told, but I buy it anyway. Not looked back since. That was about 12 years ago.
This Is Manditory Listening If You're An Aspiring Beatmaker Or Just A Fan Of Hip-Hop In General. You Can See The Essence Of The Soul This Dude Has In His Compositions. Simply Brilliant In It's Performance And The Vibe Is Itself Invigorating...
