I met Danny once, when I was about 14 year old or about. I worked after school and on Saturdays in his dads ( John Baker) hardware shop , I remember he had a 'charisma' about him, and all the female customers would try to get served by him. He helped in the shop only for a week or two when he came to visit his mam and dad. A nice bloke from what I can remember.
Met him a couple of times, lovely fella so full of tales of life back in the 60's.... may go to his funeral to pay my respects to yet another lost star from our past... On his way to a better place
Worked a few gigs with him and a lovely guy to chat too, was very sorry to be told last week that he had passed away. He may have only had one chart hit , but it's a corker. Real name Dave Baker , he was a black cabbie as well as appearing on rock n Roll shows .
I was at Danny's audition for Larry Parnes, my friend Jenny was Larry's secretary, he was a lovely shy guy, and we thought he was great. A shame there was so much competition in the pop world then, that he didn't get the success he deserved. So sorry to hear of his passing. :-(
