I heard clock tick and think of you, time after time
After my picture fades and darkness has turned to gray, if you re lost After, i can t hear what you have said
time after time
Time after time, almost left behind suitcases of memories
Almost left behind suitcases of memories, time after time
Caught up in circles, time after time, the second hand unwinds
the second hand unwinds
Time after time, then you say, if you re lost
lying at night in bed
the drum beats out of time
Caught up in circles, watching through windows
You re wondering if i m ok, you re calling to me
If you re lost, i m walking too far ahead, time after time
I fall behind, almost left behind suitcases of memories
Time after time, time after time
Time after time, the drum beats out of time
I will catch you, time after time, you can look and you will find me
time after time
Time after time, time after time Cassandra, you re calling to me
Time after time, lying at night in bed
You can look and you will find me, i will be waiting, time after sometimes you picture me
Time after sometimes you picture me, then you say
then you say
You re calling to me, caught up in circles
The feeling of rain on your back on a cold Saturday afternoon, deserted streets, drawn curtains on houses lining the streets. You think of the possibility of a home, the trumpet case dripping droplets and you wish it were gigs. you need no estimation of a world war cos you're in one. You realize there's no turning back, all the things you are converge at this point, where puddles of water rush to the gutter. You take solace in that others before you have trudged the same streets. And yea man, this life thing is a time after time thing. We return, always, though the picture fades, we reach out and touch it, feel the loves we once knew, loves perhaps less appreciated. When we fall they are the ones we draw upon, where the light, our light, shimmered last. We return, time after time. Thank you Cassandra for capturing it in your beautiful voice
Even though I love this version, I can't help but cry only because it reminds me of that ONE person. That's why I can't listen to this too often for that reason. Lovely song BUT I ain't trying to be an emotional basket case each time I hear it. Lol
Just finished watching "Good Deeds" with Tyler Perry for the first time. Heard this version of this song which I truly have loved since Cyndi Lauper first dropped it. Loving this version.
There are some great voices I enjoy; Jill Scott, Lauren Hill, Carol King, Maysa, please add the name Cassandra Wilson to that list....... OUTSTANDING!!!!
when you realize what the words mean, and you can feel every struggle of the story in your own life... years may fall, or at the very least, you'll feel that ache in the center of your being, for someone who you loved every so deeply, but just could never get on the same page with... living, loving but never wholly in sync... your time is after their time, or vice versa and so you finally let go and what remains are the memories that are fading and you wish by some miracle you could go back again...
I dont have to pretend with Hip Hop, and Hip Hop doesnt have to pretend with me. My feelings have never been more clear, and I know they will never go away.- Brown Sugar to MyOne
