Another outstanding track from an album that easily ranks as one of the very best vocal jazz records of the last twenty years. On the album "Changes" Carmen Lundy provides even more proof of her exceptional ability as a writer and arranger in jazz, both vocal and instrumental.Very, very few jazz singers of this or any era can match the quality or quantity of Lundy's compositions. "So Beautiful" Indeed!!....a delicious, contemporary outing in Afro Cuban jazz that just shines and shines...the harmonies evoke late period Jazz Messengers and I can imagine Woody Shaw or Pharoah Sanders playing this powerful melodic line.
Outstanding, it's a Grammy winner to me Trett, and my compadres that I am out here with agree. Spoke with Curt today and some other old friends and family from the heights, all truly proud of what you have become and what you continue to thrill the entire world with, Thanks for your beautiful presence, your exuberant light.
What a beautiful melodic piece. I love this!! So glad we still have 90.9 in Detroit which gives us "Jazzy Nights". The station played this piece tonight and I am also officially a fan now. I will be checking out your album Carmen.
Wow. How did I miss this incredible music! Was watching an interview with Billy Childs and he cited what a wonderful vocalist you are. I'm a fan for life.
