Does anyone happen to know if Bukka wrote this one or if not him then who (whom?) actually did? I get the sense that it is spiritual that is old as the hills that was floating around that he recorded, but I can't seem to find an earlier version or any definitive information as to the author. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
To Jim Dixon - this is a brilliant transcription of the lyrics.
Just not sure about "free as the lamb on Cavalry" - I'm not a Christian, but does that make sense theologically? Could it be "Oh, Cavalry"? anyway, fantastic job, Jim.
MY EYES HAVE BEEN LIFTED UP TO THE JORDAN BAPTIZED ONE AND MY HEART'S ON FIRE, BURNING TO BE INFUSED BY THE SWEETEST HOLY COMFORTER AND GREAT GOD, YOU ARE THE ONLY GOD. I CRY MERCY DEAR LORD, YOU'VE SENT THE RESURRECTION FOR ME AND I AM NOT ASHAMED TO SPEAK IT AND WILL SHOUT IT FROM ALL THE ROOFTOPS
