I appreciate this post! Don was usually the Hot Shot Guitar player while Buck would lay down an awesome Rhythm. I think I once read that Buck showed Don a thing or two on the Guitar in their early days. Any of our other Viewers have any information about this? All I know for sure is I love Buck and his Band.
Buck more or less left the lead work to Don Rich and then whoever was either in the band or whoever they had on Hee Haw. Had a great career so no worries.
The album mentioned was "Buck Owens -- guitar player" and featured all Buck on lead. He was the lead guitarist for Tommy Collins before starting his own career. And the tejano influence here is obvious.
I went to Country Music Festival, here in Australia, on the weekend.. A left handed picker there, by the name of Owen Blundell, swapped his guitar for a right hand one and played this tune with the strings upside down... never missed a note.. it was awesome.
Not many people realize that Buck could really pick a guitar. And that Don Rich started out playing the fiddle! They were great!!!:) Thanks for posting this!
