I remember listening to this cover when I was a teenager. There was a Jimi Hendrix tribute CD with a bunch of Hendrix' songs played by other artists. One of them was Hey Joe. In my opinion the best cover ever done to this song.
"Hey Joe"
Hey Joe,
Where you goin' with that gun in your hand?
Hey Joe,
Where you goin' with that gun in your hand?
Goin' down to shot my old lady
You know I caught her mess around with another man,
Goin' down to shot my old lady
You know I caught her mess around with another man,
That ain't too good
Hey Joe,
Heard you shot your woman down,
Hey Joe,
Heard you shot your lady down,
Yes I did, I shot her
You know, I caught that girl mess around town
Yes I did, I shot her
You know, I caught that girl mess around town
I took out my gun,
Then I shot her
I shot her
Hey Joe,
Where you gonna run to now?
Hey Joe,
Where you gonna run to now?
Where you gonna go?
Goin' way down south,
Way down to mexico way
Goin' way down south,
Way down where I can be free,
Ain't no hangman gonna,
Get a rope around me,
Ain't no hangman gonna,
Get a rope around me
body count kills. these boys are hardcore rockers. This is a great cover of one of the great classics. nicely done gentlemen...just picked up the new album...fu--in' heavy!!!
I think this is the best and most honest thing Body count has done. No hype, no controversy, just a great song.
I don't inderstand why Hendrix is not held up as a idol in the black community. He was a musical genius. There are very few of those. Mozart for example. There should be a national Jimi day in the African American community. Pure genius. Never seen his like before, and never seen it since.
