This is one of the most impressive recordings I've ever heard in my life. Somehow he makes it sound incredibly laid back and frantic at the same time. Try copping his phrasing yourself; it's so unpredictable and dynamic, both the guitar and vocals, marrying and juxtaposing at the same time. This man's sense of timing was on another level.

I've been covering this for years and it is infuriating trying to capture his guitar style and vocal phrasing simultaneously. Such a gem this song.

I wonder if this was an inspiration musically behind Led Zeppelin's "Goin' to California" - the chorus sounds eerily similar to part of that LZ song.

Imagine: this amazing human being lived his whole life without ever owning a pair of Nikes...

Willie may have the blues real bad, As for me listening in bed with the flu, my spirits have lifted to the point of full recovery, The man is untouchable thank you Willie.

I can see why Bob Dylan wrote"And I know one thing, nobody can sing the blues, like Blind Willie McTell" I can hear the influence in Dylan. Just a great track.
