Awesome, I can just imagine BWJ leaning into the mike and growling this out while his wife swivels her hips singing the melody, blues at its very best!
I think this is the first and still my favorite recorded version of this song. BWJ is hypnotic, the call and response is brilliant, so simple, yet so powerful. This man was a vocal genius. .
Stunning. Beyond words. The song that really stuck it to me though was 'Dark was the Night, Cold was the Ground' - the slide guitfiddle work on that is, its almost a burden having heard something that beautiful. If I don't fully open my heart, soul and mind to this world that didn't exist before having felt his playing I'd be cheating myself of the potential for real change and growth, and its a little disconcerting having to let go of what you considered certainties only 3:22 ago and admitting (once again) you know virtually nothing.
Old Willie Mac could lay that groove down without half trying, absolutely tack hammer sure with a voice full of history and Holy weight. No wonder they sent his music into space.................
