In the night, though we’re apart
There’s a ghost of you within my haunted heart
Ghost of you, my lost romance
Lips that laugh, eyes that dance
Dreams repeat a sweet but lonely song to me Dreams are dust, it’s you who must belong to me And thrill my haunted heart, be still, my haunted heart
Dreams are dust, it’s you who must belong to me And thrill my haunted heart, be still, my haunted heart
Beautiful version by bill introduced by jo stafford in 1947. By deitz/scwartz. What a gorgeous melody. The lyrics are equally beautiful. Explorations and sunday at the villiage vanguard are bill evans masterpiece!
I love the vocal by the late and much-missed Susannah McCorkle ("Haunted Heart" is also the title of her biography), but this is easily my favorite instrumental version. There's nobody like Bill Evans!
The best, as much as I love so many other jazz pianists. But when you're tired, feeling down and just a little bit alone and fed up with the world, there's Bill Evans. Just wonderful.
God, no matter what mood your in, this makes you so happy and calm. You literally feel your muscles loosen as you forget the weight of the world. I love it so much ^-^
