The idea behind the Ruby script powering this is actually pretty straightforward – it just averages the colors of each emoji, and then averages the color of a block of a frame of a gif, and then replaces the frame with the closest emoji. Neat idea, fantastic execution. Must have taken a lot of hard work to make this video.
She was my artist of the decade on Spotify. I love how her tracks are club oriented but also kind of nerdy and technical (this video is proof of that).
