THIS IS MY HIT,WHEN I HEARD THIS THEIR WERE STOPPING ME ON THE FLOOR TRIPPING ON PURPLE HACE HEART GOING 100 MILES AN HR...84 KING ST.. THE GARAGE...WARRIOR DANCER!!!
The mother of all Jazz Funk anthems from North London's finest, Brit Funk band Atmosfear, on the Elite record label, this blew up a storm on both sides of the atlantic in 1979, with one of funkiest bassline you'll ever hear from Lester Batchelor, Andy Sojka RIP, alongside the production guru Jerry Pike, a sure fire winner, it's a blast on earth
My Dad was a reggae sound system owner but the first time i heard this track was from my next door neighbour, i begged him to bring it to our house as i wanted my Dad to hear it on the sound, my Dad was totally hooked, valve amplification with a Garrard 4HF pumping through house of joy speaker boxes, pure magic. Not forgetting Motivation & Extract, absolute monster tracks & will never be duplicated.
Wow! Blown away by the comments. Still have all the records in all the sizes, and all the colours ;+) A hoot to produce and mix, we all had a ball. Thanks
An absolute floor filler from back in the day. For all you dance floor maniacs and youngsters, here are a few more classics: War, 'The World is a Ghetto' (disco version), Maze 'Twighlight', Cedar Walton "Latin America", Herbie Hancock 'Just around the corner", Lonnie Liston Smith, 'A song for the children' and 'Expansions', Dexter Wansal "Life on Mars' and Willie Bobo 'Always There'
The old knees play up these days but the Royalty with its dark sweat dripping interior, the Goldmine, Flicks, Zero 6, Epping Forest Country club on a Monday Night were the stomping ground and awash with fantastic dancers and the best years of music. Classics, all of them and I am glad and privileged to have grown up in that era.
Thank you, so much for this song ('Dancing in Outer Space'). I have been looking for this for 37 years! Used to play it on a cassette in the 80s; didn't know what it was called. For years, this tune has been popping in and out of my head; tried to find it - failed -until, tonight, I just had to try and find out what it was. I typed in 'Disco instrumentals from the 70s' on 'You Tube'. After listening to some 120 tunes on the playlist, I was about to go to bed when, at last, something sounded familiar from my early teen years! Again, many thanks!
