It's very difficult to concisely explain Alexander's style. The best I can come up with is a hard-to-picture mix of Charley Pride & Al Green. I hope that's not too off.
We think it is Exciting when you are nice enough to Post a flip side. For those of us who bought 45 records, we used to listen to flip sides to hear another song by artists we liked. This is Truly an Excellent flip side. It's worthy of an A-Side song.
Thanks for the Memory, elofan567. Bravo!
I'm sure the album is correct. The original 1941 single lists Autry, Rose & Whitley as writers. I also know that Autry's version was first since Hank didn't release a single until 1947.
Hot Damn !! This guy is one of the greatest soul/ rhythmn and blues/country singers who ever lived !! And it's a real shame more people don't know who Arthur Alexander was or have heard his songs !!!
