While there are certainly better movies than TGBH, even though it is a masterpiece, it is the most watchable movie I've ever seen. I've seen this movie almost 30 times now and it never gets old.
I just saw this movie by accident... and the first 10 seconds I knew it was going to be a thing of beauty and it fills me with joy. :) Just needed to share that. Heh.
IMO Mr Gustave's intro is one of the best I've scene in recent times. the music and the dialogue delivery. " Bring the table to the window...and the tray to the table" delivers it like poetry!!! awesome stuff.
When I found these comments, I realized some people are so obsessed with this movie like me that they can hear the dialogues of this movie in their head.
With respect , adoration, admiration, kisses, gratitude, best wishes, and love from me to every scene and every character in this movie.
"You're looking so well, darling, you really are... they've done a marvelous job. I don't know what sort of cream they've put on you down at the morgue, but... I want some." !
"There are still faint glimmers of civilisation left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity."
Something we need to remind ourselves of every once in a while. Especially in times when so much senseless killing is happening, be it in Ukraine, the Middle East or elsewhere. It's not all there is.
The best movie of the year comes with the best score of the year.
Thank you Wes Anderson and Alexandre Desplat, for making my life a little more magical. Never stop making great films like this.
