The dance is called Valeta, and is classified as a Sequence dance.
In some circumstances it is danced as a Progression
Couples start in a circle round the dance hall, men on the inside, ladies on the outside.
After the end of each Sequence the men move slightly to their left to greet the next lady in the outer circle, and complete one sequence before passing on to the next partner.
It can also be danced as an 'Excuse me'
Oh my goodness! Straight back to ballroom dancing lessons for me. Teenage kids had to do this, hating it. But if Bowlly were singing the vocals I'd have danced to anything.
au revoir but not good-bye let me hear you whisper this
au revoir but not good bye leave me with a farewell kiss
with joy we'll dream away each sorrow with love we'll live for each tomorrow
so let's part just you and I with au revoir and not good bye
one more happy day has gone on its way
so before you go I would like to say au revoir but not goodbye
