Sorry, I wasn't clear. I was simply pointing out the atrocious mis-spelling of Krupa's name. I agree that to my knowledge Krupa never played with Herman.
WOW.
Fantastic music from one of the very best big bands of all time.
Amazing sounds & so,so good.
My old school mate,Alan Turnbull (one of Aussie's best drummers ) used to practice this tune constantly & he was very good.
Alan played with Don Burrows / Milt Jackson / Joe Henderson / Gary Burton / Sonny Stitt / Barney Kessell / Billy Field to name a few.He appeared at Montreux,Newport Jazz Festivals & at Carnegie Hall.
He began his professional career at 14yo,playing with Graham Lyall,Brian Brown etc
Unfortunately he passed away about 18 months ago.
He was a lovely person & a great mate & will be sadly missed, but not forgotten.
I'm 62 now and I remember playing this so many times on my parents "what ever" over 50 years ago. It was one of my favourites. Still love it today.
So much lost as old 78s were tossed out or converted to flower pots.
dont need an extra hole, do need a great embouchure :D its incredible; this guy does it really well too with an extra bit at the end "Andy Firth Golden Wedding"
My husband played Golden Wedding many, many times while with the Tauranga big Band, he was expert on the high note ending too. I was looking forward to him playing it at our Golden Wedding in 2010 (tears) but sadly (more tears) a stroke 8 months prior to anniversay he was unable to play it
yes its me again Pierre from Australia this rendition of Golden Wedding would be the most fantastic recording of drum playing i have always remembered from my early youth back in the 40,s[ till Ricky Nelsons 'let there be drums '] & try get the youth of today to tap along to the beat of this rhythm! bye Pierre
