And there was me thinking I was clever doing this in a quite fast Latin tempo. Oh well, back to the drawing board again after hearing the great Oscar Peterson at work. The good thing we dedicated amateurs can do is to be inspired by this, not to try to copy it.

How did Peterson conceive playing this song with such sheer brilliance? ☆☆☆☆☆

Tough call. I would say Tatum takes the title for solo play - probably the greatest left hand of all time. As far as playing in a group or accompanying anyone, Peterson was far better. With the exception of a few of his Pablo group recordings (particularly with Buddy DeFranco and Lionel Hampton), I think Tatum was constricted in a group setting. OP thrived like no one else in a group setting (even moreso than Bill Evans, I.M.O.) In the end I admire Tatum more, but I'd rather listen to O.P.
