My wife and I danced to Reg's music on very many occasions, and it was always magical. Incidentally, I have nearly completed a sizeable revision of my biography of him - "Mr Blackpool - Reginald Dixon, MBE" - for which I have added interesting material about his gradual evolution from Sheffield to Blackpool, my special day in Abbey Road Studios, and personal and family memories of Reg (especially the post-Tower years, when we saw a lot more of him). I first need to discuss its publication with a couple of key personnel, but hope to provide further information in due course.
Brilliant. You can sense the party atmosphere in the packed ballroom, dancers crowding the dance-floor, everyone having a great time. Reg certainly knew how to get those feet tapping and had such an aura about him. The organ world owes him a huge debt of gratitude. Unassuming, fun, to be enjoyed by prince and pauper alike. Whether you were dancing in tempo, watching in awe, or just soaking up the atmosphere, you were entertained; and that my friends, is the ultimate goal.
