To my taste, the best of Peter Hammill for these following reasons - uniqueness of the grounding topic - uniqueness of the arrangement - richness and sensitivity of the melodic line - mastery and, in pure sense, richness of the rhymes

I really dig that dramatic use of the ARP 2500 synthesizer and those wonderful Mellotron passages. I'm sure it's an ARP 2500 synth being used, David Hentschel programmed the synth, Hammill played it, and this song features many of the same synth timbres heard on Elton John's "Funeral for a Friend" which David Hentschel did play the ARP 2500 on.

I don't think Peter Hammill would agree with that. But his music truly is out of this world.

I still have most of his music on vinyl...wherever it all is...

very good old stuff. I first saw him playing solo in 1969 at an all night concert with the nice yes and rennaissance, then played football with the group a few times.it seems weird that im going to see van der graaf in june, time vaults?

Like the first light of dawn, this music opens the eyes to new promises and all the wonders of nature. Evocative of belief in "the afterlife" and powers beyond observation, these pieces pull the strings of the heart, draw nostalgia and awaken loves, skinned lives and sleepy watchmen !

I hardly own every solo album Peter Hammill has done, but In Camera is certainly a favorite of mine, right there with the best Van der Graaf Generator. This, along with "(No More) The Sub-Mariner" being my favorites on this album.

Absolute masterpiece. Musically and lyrically. The build up to the synth part never fails to grab me.

Music complex and difficult to read. For the few who manage to understand it will give big emotions.

"In camera"  is one of Peter's true solo-albums in the sense that he played almost all instruments and recording was basically done in his home studio on four-track tape-deck equipment.

What a relief that there is a Hammill in pop music, why so few songwriters like him ? My heart grows ever more faint, there's something missing ?
