I remember--still!--seeing this band at Eagles Auditorium in Seattle in 1969. Man, man.

Jim Morrison to the Doors, "I wrote some lyrics to a song called "Five to one" but I don't have a melody. "Not a problem," they all said.

Thanks for the harp lesson Paul... 1969...Novato Ca ...he and Michael Bloomfield were playing at Fillmore West. He came to see a buddy whose younger brother was my buddy. He walked in and I about shit..they were smoking a joint and looked at me and said u wanna play ..of course I said really. He played a tune and showed me how to bend the reeds. Then handed me his backup harp handed it to me and I’ve been playing it ever since..RIP PAUL

And don't forget, when Dylan went electric at Newport, this was the band that backed him up.

Paul Butterfield Blues Band were the first "white boy blues band", and their influence turned so many people onto the blues. As a result, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and many other blues musicians became known to a wider audience, and resurrected their careers. They also gave us ( for better or worse ) the extended guitar solo, and jams with their groundbreaking "East- West". Paul & Michael Bloomfield were true trailblazers back in 1966. Their band was integrated which was unheard of at that time. Butterfield, & Bloomfield should have been inducted into the R'nR' Hof a long time ago for their respective innovations. Google Bloomfield, & check out his creds. He made music history with some of his accomplishments.
