John Fogerty is well respected in that his songwriting aligned with the qualities and aspects of the "genre". However, Ritchie Furay and Jimmy Mesina, along with Roger Mcguinn and Chris Hillman of Buffalo Springfield and The Byrds respectfully, are the true founders of Country/Rock!!

Thanks to my bro Al for introducing me to NRPS...awesome band. Just wanted to add to your conversation you all forgot Gram Parsons...intl. Sub band and Burritos..def roots of country rock..or cosmic as Gram called it.

One of the pioneers of "Country Rock" - after CCR of course. I was blessed to see both bands. You can't beat Fogerty, however, this group had their own unique style and their songs were great. And they didn't copy CCR but had their own brand and style. Gotta respect that.

Nine to five, to stay alive, is what I have to do. From nine to five, I stay alive by hoping that you will come and see me Sunday, Susie. You know where I'll be. Come and see me Sunday, Susie. Come make love with me. You don't have to bring me nothing, maybe just say, "Hi." You don't have to pledge your loving. You don't have to try. Just come and see me Sunday, Susie. You know where I'll be. Come and see me Sunday, Susie. Come make love with me. Sunday is the Lord's day, Susie. He sat down to rest. Sunday doesn't make no difference. Susie is the best. All alone is where I been, but I don't want to stay. All alone on Sunday, Susie, like I been, today. Come and see me Sunday, Susie. You know where I'll be. Come and see me Sunday, Susie. Come make love with me.

I dug up my old 8 track Home, Home on the Road" yesterday to record "Henry" which is the absolute best recording of Henry ever. I scoured this internet looking for the same version that's on my 8 track and it's no where to be found ...not even on "Brujo"

This number is "signature" NRPS! The simple pleasure of the event he's describing or is hoping for, is something every guy would dig. Also, Dawson's mild yodel is really cool. Thanks fer postin'.

Open for debate. The Byrds & Buffalo Springfield were both excellent bands but Fogerty took it to another level not achieved before. Country folk/rock existed before true country rock and Fogerty represented the pinnacle of this transformation and lineage.

It was in 1973 that my friends and I went to see N.R.P.S. and Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen at Kings College in Wilkes Barre,PA.What a fantastic concert. At the same time the N.R.P.S record Home,Home On the Road and Commander Cody came out with their live record.
