I remember hearing Satch Boogie on my car radio when this album first came out and was floored, to say the least. That tone, those riffs and solos...and his mind-blowing whammy bar technique just took it way over the top. At first, I thought it was Eddie Van Halen...but quickly realized it was way too polished and technical to be him (no disrespect). No one, at the time, not even the reining guitar god Yngwie Malmsteen, could match Satriani when it came to groove, tone, catchy instrumentals, etc. Many young people don't realize how revolutionary and influential this album was on modern rock guitar....just as much as Van Halen, if not more.

this is still my favorite satriani song, 25 years later!!! ironically, I have seen him twice at the midtown music festival in Atlanta and had the opportunity to meet and speak with him through a fence before he went on stage one time, one of the nicest, happiest, most gracious 'rock stars' ive ever met, but he does not do this song live. damn.
