At a party, Brian Wilson played Surfin' USA. Jan & Dean wanted to record it but Wilson said no because Beach Boys were going to record it, so Brian gave them the unfinished Surf City

I saw The Beach Boys live (with some replacements) and they did preform their version of this song, but they were a little to old to being singing the line. “Cute girls for every boy.”
