The thing I dig most about Horace, during his career as a band leader, is that he decided somewhere along the line that the soloist would be provided the chord changes that HE put out, not the other way around where the pianist comp around the soloist. Horace says, "Here, these are the chords I'm using on this particular tune. Take your solo from these chord changes, I think they're sufficient." He's the only pianist I know who has done this. It works.

First time I heard, was at late 70! Beat, latin, post be-bop, all together! It`s a Pearl!

This is a great version of Weldon Irvine's song. I have transcribed the bass line note-for-note up to the solo section...

One of Horace Silver's greatest songs. There is a huge difference in listening to and performing with musicians creating and interpreting the universal vibrations from the astral plane as opposed to those skilled in the art of imagery but lacking spiritual substance.

It's not a stretch to hear Horace do a salsa_influenced tune. In fact, it was a natural fit for his repertoire

The progression alone is lovely, but the melody is perfect for it. A repeated riff over differing chords is always so refreshing.
