this song is so old it's been covered many times.  But this may be the best it has been sung by a man.

I've never heard this version before! These lyrics really give the song an entire different feeling I love it!!

Saw Bobby Bland with the Joe Scott orchestra in Houston when I was about 16 and was hooked - no one ever did it better.  

Generally I'm only a moderate fan of BB, as his "howling" gets on my nerves. But when he sings, he's got an absolutely remarkable voice, and this song is a perfect showcase for it. Just phenomenal.

The song is an old English folksong.  St James Infirmary was in London and treated people who had sexual diseases

I was lucky enough to see Bobby Blue Bland at the Chapter II Suppe Club on Stony Island in the 1970s ....

One word……..ignorance. Thankfully, I had the good fortune to see The Man at the height of his vocal powers during the Duke years. There will never be another bluesman like Bobby, who didn't need a guitar, harp, or any other props other than that amazing voice and incomparable stage presence.

Bobby was a giant among the bluesman. When we lost Bobby, we lost one of the great ones. It will be a long time before someone comes along and pick up the ball where Bobby left off. R.I.P. Bobby Blue Bland.

This got less hits than Hugh Laurie. What is wrong with people?

It's funny how changing a few lyrics makes the song almost completely different. "let her go" vs "she's gone" for instance.

I remember playing this on my mom brand new Curtis Mathis floor model stereo back in the 70s. Now those were the good ole days!!!

I think Bobby's is still the best version.
