The 1930's was an awful time to live in, with the Great Depression, the Rise of Nazi Germany, loads of Poverty and diseases spreading. But songs like this would of been the only thing that made it bearable to live in.

My Grandma taught me this song years ago. Listening to it brings back memories of her singing to me at bedtime when I'd stay at her house. I miss her so much.

This is a lifetime lesson that all of us need to learn. Welcome thunder because the joy that heaven sends us for working thru the thunder brings so much joy. Some people have to live a lifetime before they learn this lesson but when it finally clicks the joy is OUTSTANDING!

Crosby was the inspiration (according to them) for crooners like Frank SinatraPerry Como, Dean Martin, and many others.  None of those who emulated him were bad, either, but they were not Bing Crosby.  This is especially so in the early days of radio..

It must be remembered that this song was sung to a nation in the depths of the worst Depression the nation had or has ever passed through. It was a successful attempt to lift the spirits of an America sunk in despair.

I've been to the cemetery where Bing was laid to rest and sometimes there are pennies on his burial plaque. I always wondered why until this song dawned on me just now and I had to see if he sang it. Pennies from Heaven, amazing.

A little bit of everything says the thirties. The Nation was in a Depression, but people still kept their spirits up and had faith! "There will be pennies from heaven for you and for me."
