He wasn't such an "Old Man" when he recorded this song

This is the SECOND version (with castanets in the background), arranged and conducted by Ray Conniff, and recorded on September 13, 1956.

This is production is best enjoyed in a satirical scope. Very bold for 1950!

Yes he is the last of the singers from the golden age of music that is still alive and performing. Bing, Franki, Vaughn, Dean, Frankie, Johnnie, Guy, Jo, Terrisa,,Don and most of the others are gone but not forgotten and there will never be any like them again. So Tony just keep going.

The only other recording I know of from the some period when Tony recorded "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" was by Dick Hames which did it in 1950. Billy Eeckstine did it in 1957. But I have never heard either one of them so I couldn't tell you how good they were but I bet Billyy's was great.

I stand corrected, this recording is from 1952. Tony orginally made his first recording of it in 1950, which then I have never heard,. It did not have the Castinetts in it. But this is the one I grew up with and thought it was the orginal.

Read the other coments, I've explaned this several times. Thissong was written several decads before the mmbers of Greenday was even born and and recorded by Tony in 1951. So how could it be a copy of Greendays song. If anything it's the other way around.

I would have so much more respect for America if they still produced music like this.

Love0me0dearly Ditto, I always think of Jack Vettriano's dancing paintings when i hear this. Look at his paintings whilst listening to this and you'll know what i mean. The two complement one another.

I've heard Diana's version, if you like that type of singing fine that is what makes life interesting. I like the he-man style.

I have now heard the version on the Astoria and I can understand why a big Tony fan may like this version best. But me I perfer the 1950 orginal recording I grew up with it.
