I don't know why,
I love you like I do
When you're breaking my heart
and you know it's true
But I'm a fool for you!
Man, who hasn't felt this way back in high school.
Mike from philly iam a drummer when the intro. starts the drummer is the man that's always been my man Mr.Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions. r.i.p. curtis Mayfield
This record was always a favorite of mine, loved it I can still remember walking down the cold, snow filled and wind swept streets of NY one night with my arm around my girl and it was playing on my radio like it was yesterday I was 16 years old Funny the things one sometimes remembers
This song affected many, Curtis was " Da Man" during that period lyrically profound he reach our hearts & minds with those words.
This song brings out how men are fools for the woman they love, many have cried for the words on this classic, some have even died (sad 2 say).
My heart was ripped at the tender age of 13...yep...but that was NYC life at that time (ironically 1968 when Curtis started his label). Great song under 3 minutes and very impactful. I am a 59 yr.old kid and this still brings back memories.
Peace 2 ya
I must have been 9 or 10 years old when my folks would have parties and they played this one, but this track still hits home with me, I get it, everybody is a fool sometimes.
"Doggin' me everyday cause child I'm a fool for ya" like I said below I cranked the radio up all the way and swaggered down the NY streets with the cold wind blowin' like wind in a pure stone draw "I got a heart full of stone and I hate the misery" "I don't know why I love ya like I do when you're breakin' my heart' and ya know it's true" Back in the day Sorry for so many comments and replies but I loved this song in a special way from when I first heard it on the radio at age 17 and today Yeah I was a fool for her and I still feel it today As a late reply to Ariel Brown from a year ago
Undoubtely some of the best soul music ever to hit my ears. Curtis was one of the best. Could really make you think about everything that he sung about. His son was an accomplished photographer too. I listen to good soul music back in Detroit in the 60's and 70's. Long Live the Motor city and CKLW!
I don't know why
I love you like I do....
When you're breaking my heart
And you know it's true!!
Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, & James Brown .... the greatest ever!!
