I thought I was able to play that main lick. Back to zero.

Had this dream 5 or so years ago that my friend and I went to a Stevie concert. Lost my formed in the crown so I walked up to the front and saw Stevie right there. He had aged, the number 61 or 62 popped into my head which is the age he would have been as I recall. When I looked closer he was playing a guitar that has flames through out the entire body and neck and had no strings on it. He later took me back stage, handed me a wooden bass, told me to lay down a 12 bar and began showing me licks and giving me encouragement to remain focused on my musical journey. I still remember him saying ‘ Jake, you just pick that git-ar up everyday.’ Told my friend about the dream. He then went on to say that Stevie probably beat the devil in a music duel and won his guitar

It's like he's talking with the guitar.....Like he's speaks as easily with the instrument as would in a conversation.....Never. Another. Like. Him. Again.

This is what he warms up with. I hate when people compare SRV to God. No way god can play like that!

He was a freak of nature.  I mean that in the best possible way.  What a musician.

it is like a scene, directed by Tentqueen Quarantino, starred by John Travolta, picturing the Perfect Guitar Player. But the best part: it is real

I guess when you're THIS GOOD, you need to add in pipe smoking to make it more of a challenge.  Had he lived until now, he might very well have added in a La-Z-Boy and a shot of Scotch along with a local edition of the Sunday paper.

The casualness with which he plays this astounds me.
