So they made you a star, now your head’s in a cloud
Now you’re walking down the street with your feet off the ground
They read in the press all about your success
They believe every word they’ve been told
After all you’ve been through tell me what will you do
When you find yourself out in the cold?
When you appear on the stage there’s a standing ovation
You really live out your performance, you’re the biggest sensation
You breeze through the door and when you take the floor
You expect to have it all to yourself
After all you’ve been through tell me what will you do
When you find yourself back on the shelf?
You breeze through the door and when you take the floor
You expect to have it all to yourself
After all you’ve been through tell me what will you do
When you find yourself back on the shelf?
So glad I retrieved this great tune from my and love and agree the comments. I also, "made a mental note to never forget it." I also, first heard it in Denver as a teenager and, yes, Beatlesque. Does my heart good to learn of the 17-year-old turning on to it. My teenage son will find a gem from my era and play it over and over and I will make sure he gets this one
This song as well as many others show how promotional control of the air waves help set the direction of music AKA, socity. It never got any play..damd --- promoters!
I had forgotten about this great song for so many years! It just bounces along so cool and easy. I guess AM radio was a wealth of fantastic sounds and a lifetime of memories.
I was a senior in high school when this came out. I had been chosen for the lead role in "Hello Dolly" and every time I heard it I was reminded to keep myself grounded and not to be a dive for the time of the first rehearsal until the last performance. It worked!
