Recall seeing them in SF in the latter 60s and they had a Hammond with Leslie speaker and also a pedal steel guitar. It was like a blues band on steroids.

One of the many reasons I love British Rock of the late 60's & early 70's.

I was born in a dump Mama died and my daddy got drunk He left me there to die or grow In this place called Tobacco Road I grew up in a rusty shack All I own was hangin' on my back Lord knows how I loathe This place called Tobacco Road But it's home, yeah The only life that I've ever known I used to livin' that way, baby, and it's price of you But I Love you 'cause you're my own I'm gonna leave get a job With the help and grace from above Save my money get rich I know In this place called Tobacco Road Bring Dynamite and a crane Blow it up and start all over again Build a town I'll be proud to show And keep the name of Tobacco Road But it's home The only life that I've ever known I used to livin' that way, and it's price of you But I Love you 'cause you're my own

I first heard this song from David Lee Roth’s Eat Em and Smile. I had no idea that was a cover.

Tonight I am remembering their wonderful drummer Mike Kellie who recently passed away. He was a great guy and it was truly a great band.I had the good fortune to hang out with them and hear this song live about 100 times!Blessings on his journey.

Under rated, under appreciated and absolutely a wonderful band. If you are a fan of rock music from this era, you must give SP a serious listen.
