Brill song. For some reason it never had any success at the time even though it was released more than a couple of times.

Thing I loved about the early Minds, their stuff was just so incredibly danceable.

One of the greatest references in any song is the line “Airports Playing Brian Eno.” Genius song Genius lyrics.

This was the Minds at their finest era. Undertones of Moroder.

I saw them 30/10/81, in a little Canadian prairie town during what was (I think) their first North American tour. I'd recently bought the 12" single of "Love Song". It was a frosty night, people were wearing goth-y Halloween stuff. Maybe 200 of us? The venue was an unheated sheet metal curling rink, and was poundingly loud. Jim Kerr rotating around, hugging himself dramatically (against the cold, probably). I recall thinking that he was the closest thing to Bowie I was ever likely to see.

[Scene] Members of Franz Ferdinand, looking for inspiration and a sound to emulate, hear this song in coffee shop (all members spit out coffee simultaneously)

From the glory days before Jim lost his mind and woke up one day thinking he was Bono's long lost brother

At the end of the second verse he actually says "Airports playing Brian Eno".

back when they (usually) only let talented, interesting artists in studios and on stages...

This track was a massive dance floor filler in the now defunct Studio 21 club, just off Tottenham Court Road in 1980. Along with Japan's "The Art Of Parties", Iggy's "The Passenger" and Bowie's "Fashion", nobody sat down to those great songs. From 1980-82, the Minds couldn't put a foot wrong. Then they decided to go to America, and become a poor man's version of A Flock Of Seagulls who were never any good. What a terrible shame. For a very short time, the Minds were a fantastic band, live and in the studio. I had the good fortune to see them in the early 80s, before the artistic rot set in.
