I’ll have a blue Christmas without you
I’ll be so blue just thinking about you
Decorations of red on our green Christmas tree
Won’t be the same dear, if you’re not here with me
And when those blue snowflakes start fallin'
That’s when those blue memories start callin'
You’ll be doin' all right, with your Christmas of white
But I’ll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas
You’ll be doin' all right, with your Christmas of white
But I’ll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas
But I’ll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas
Yes! It's the most authentic and imaginative cover of a classic that I've ever heard. It manages to be completely true to the season, while her voice perfectly carries the sentiment of a tormented, blue, aching yearning, yes? At the same time, this version is supremely and wickedly subversive and twisted! It's got great guitar work, wailing harmonicas, and a blue blue string section coming in at the end. Brilliant and devilish.
I love everything Sheryl Crow does with this song, but more than that, I love the arrangement and the guitar coming in at 1:00 and the harmonica at 1:50 and even a string section at 3:00. It's gorgeous and twisted at the same time, yes?
I love this version. I was walking through Target and heard this over the intercom. I always listen to it even when it isn't Christmas. Awesome guitar licks.
