She was born in 1617 She tasted like the wind always chasing her dreamsShe was a tortured soul in pain She whispered this dark refrain "You're not alone, so never be afraid We are the cold and beautiful, you are the blue insane"Sometimes she moves the chairs downstairs, and runs away Sometimes she makes yourself known to those unawakeAnd the Maiden spoke In stuttered streams As if her soul was dead She spoke of nothing Related Watch Sam Smith And Fifth Harmony Join James Corden For Carpool Karaoke She is the infinite She is the deranged Her sorrow drips the blood Of the unfortunate and painedShe was a shameless soul stranded in the rain Her redemption never came, as she slowly went insaneSometimes she whispers in my ear "There's nothing to be afraid of" Sometimes she moves the chairs downstairsAnd the Maiden spoke In stuttered streams As if her soul was gone She spoke from the land beyondAnd the maiden spoke to me[Solo]Sometimes you whispers in my ears "There's nothing to be afraid of" Sometimes you moves the chairs downstairs And the Maiden spoke Inside my shattered dreams As if her soul was gone She spoke of the land beyondShe was just another system slave Just another system slave Being led to the grave

After countless listens, this may be my current favorite on the new disc ("She comes in Colors" is a close second right now). I love the complex texture of it - the relatively mellow chanting of the verses over the fast, heavy guitar drum background. Haunting melodies, too. This really kicks serious ass!

Wish there was a live recording for this song somewhere on YT. Would love to see the rhythm guitar work that is going on during the solo.

Aside from the solos, I feel Jeff Loomis is very underwhelming on this album. Its disappointing, really...I guess you could blame the lack of a second guitarist. But I honestly didn't think they'd be able to top "The Godless Endeavor".
