Back in 1970 I was on a United Airlines flight from Ft Lewis ,Washington to Camrahn Bay South Vietnam. i ad just graduated from high school the year before. we were a bunch of kids from all over the US caught up in mixed emotions for all the twenty-three hours we were in flight. I must have heard this song for ever hour on the hour among other songs. this song will always take me back to that long flight over the Pacific (the big blue pond as we called it in Vietnam. I will always appreciate this song as it brings back vivid memories of that year I spent in Vietnam. I hope that all the guys in that particular flight to the war zone made it back as I did. Vietnam 1970, 119th Assault Helicopter Company, Gator 209, door gunner.
