Mel was the real deal. He left us way too soon. I loved his throaty voice. It was perfect for the tunes he recorded. When Bob McDill wrote "Baby's Got Her Bluejeans On" he said he knew it was a hit the first time he heard the studio guys playing it. Modern country music has almost no recognizable intros and it's a shame. No more name that tune because all the new stuff sounds exactly alike. It's a sad commentary on modern music and the new Nashville isn't smart enough to recognize it's own sins.

I was the Bus driver for Mel McDaniel in hes later days..He was a very unique person...He always treated me like I was part of the band..RIP Ol Buddy...I grew up listening to Mel It was a honor to drive your bus,even though I used to wake you up in the middle of the night when I hit to many bumps in the road.He use to get so mad at me for that,But the next morning he always apologize and we would laugh about it...
