I've never heard this song performed better than it is here. Absolutely wonderful.

Janis never would have sang it if Kris hadn't written it ... I don't think Kris has ever received the kudos due him on this tune ...

With all due respect for the late great Janis Joplin, I have always liked this version better. It's simple, honest and heartfelt. In other words a country song.

Kris Kristofferson writes and sings and the most haunting words and music ever produced..Kudos...

This is what I'm talking about!! I don't think a quicker tempo is called for. As much as Janis is in my heart, Chris nails it! So he should, it's his song!!

I think that simple acoustic finger pick in the leadoff and first verse makes the whole song. It's a "sittin-around-the-front-porch-pickin" song.

Nah, Janis didn't sing this better. She did a good job but this is Kris's song man. Timeless, beautiful classic sang purely from the soul.

Kristofferson is without a doubt one of the best singer/songwriters of his time!!!

Remember hearing this as a kid.. took about 20 years to "Get it"... 20 more to really appreciate it.

No one sings the song near as well as Kris.  He has an emotional connection to the song that no one else can express!
