Lee Morgan, a great talent, cut down in his prime. Both Lee and John departed too early

I just started spinning the B-side of Blue Train and for a moment I thought I had it going on 45 rpm.

Lee Morgan was 19 years old when this was recorded. Think about that!

The beginning to Lee Morgan's solo is crazy

Curtis Fuller plays his 'bone as if it has keys; for his lines are smooth and clear as well as accurate. His speed belies the fact that he is playing a slide trombone and not a trumpet-like valved 'bone or a saxophone. 'Trane and Lee are as "bad" as Heaven - solid sound quality, virulent attack with pastoral spirituality. The Band prepares a rhythmic environment for an extemporaneous and fertile take off by each soloist. Wise posting!

I remember a few years ago the first time I heard that lick it gave me crazy chills, I had to listen to it about 5 times again. Lee Morgan!

yeah! at 3:32. He kills on Blue Train , too. There are very very few players who can say they outshone JC on two cuts of an album (or ever...)

Man Lee Morgan was about his business..OMG...he ran that song...I saw Curtis Fuller gets props for playing that fast on a trombone, but Lee was a beast..

One of my top 10 favorite drum solos. Philly always knew how to swing no matter what he was playing!
