I think this video misses the point of the song. It's not a song about some interloper breaking up a couple or becoming his "number two" on the side or something. It's a song about a man who feels broken after a relationship that he thought was going to be "it" for him, but fell apart. He's trying to move on now with someone else, but is cynical/skeptical about the prospects, and is warning his new beau what the score is.
