Perhaps Tom Jones may have been influenced by this underrated and very Great man? A twisted Paul Robeson well in advance of Screaming Lord Sutch, Alice Cooper, The Cramps, tortured Rock'n'Roll Blues at its Absolute Finest...;)
My mom lisend to Jay when she was expecting my brother, she used to tell my him that Jay hade a bad influence on my brother, my brother is a bit of crazzy. Well once my brother met Jay and told him what mom said. Jay, who was really drunk, grabbed my brother and said: So you are one of my spawn! and when he draged him around and intreduced my brother as his son for evryone he saw. My brother is white as bone, thin as a skeleton, have eys like frozen water and teeth lik a vampire.
Screamin' Jay hawkins was one of the most under rated artists of his time. I met him in Sydney when he toured Australia in the late eighties. He was an articulate and brilliant musician.
This is the BEGINNING of what is known today as "GOTHIC ROCK".... SCREAMING JAY was a Genius so far ahead of his time that we are only now catching up to how amazing this Great Man Is.... There is NO ONE else who deserves to be in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame MORE than him
“There are horrors beyond life's edge that we do not suspect, and once in a while man's evil prying calls them just within our range.”
