This song makes me cry every time i here it. It reminds me of the times when i was little and would wait at the door for my dad to come home from his very frequent business trips. I'm 16 and i still miss him when he goes away, and i always look forward to him coming home.

I remember when I was nine and my mom said that my dad told her that every time he heard the song, he thought of me. Now, I'm almost sixteen. Mom is gone. It's still the same with my dad, but I don't think he thinks of me anymore.

I'm sitting here drowning in a puddle of my own tears. I shouldn't be allowed to listen to music anymore...

I drove a truck for years One night I was leaving late to be gone for about 7 or 8 days and my son was just crying his eyes out and clinging to me like it was the last time he would see me. It was all I could do to pull out of that driveway. My son was 4 at the time. I left the house that night and this song came on........I was crying so hard that I had to pull the truck over on the shoulder. I made my decision right there. I quit my job 3 weeks later.

That moment when you realize that you've 'shifted roles' in one of your favorite songs...

you know its a great song, a real song when it brings tears to your eyes. my dad busted his ass to give me and my sibling everything we have. he worked long hard physical days working for and running his small landscaping business, and now i realize those Saturdays he took me to work it was in part just so we could spend time together. i might only be 21 now but thats perfect so i can have many more days to thank him.

Great song!!! Although I must say, I think it's funny how, in the five years since this video and song first came out, Jamey went from being literally a Paul Overstreet wannabe to being the full-fledged bad-ass country outlaw that he is today.

I'm a truck driver, I've been OTR for 2 months straight now tryna catch up on bills, and man not seeing my son sure takes away the thrill. I miss him so much already and it feels like I'm never comin home... but then this song just came on and I cussed out my dispatcher so... Marcus... I'm on my way home to Alabama
