A great Frankie Laine hit which Gogi Grant entirely redefines, as she so often did with standards. It was always my impression RCA just didn't know what to do with Gogi. She only had hits when she left the label for the short-lived Era Records. She single-handedly put the great Helen Morgan album she did into the best-selling heights, then as before RCA was stumped where to go next. I think the label for her actually should have been Capitol, the true experts of the album form.

We just lost another musical great in band leader Mort Lindsey. sp. I`ve always felt a great band leader is to a great arrangement what a tailor is to a great suit or a chef to a great meal. The novalist to a great story or lovers to a great love. They know just what it needs.

GOGI GRANT was great - still sounds excellent ~ somehow she didn't quite make it to "super stardom" depending on how one judges something like that, but she certainly deserved even more recognition for her flawless voice.

You are so right!! What happened to entertainment? the beautiful voices of yesteryear did not have the technical 'stuff' they have today to make you sound good..they were good and had to be good to survive. Now someone just pumps up more of whatever is needed to make the voice good. Even the musicians behind yesteryear's music had to be good. Now I don't even understand the noise they call music.
