As an airline technical employee in the mid 1990s, I was entering the jetway from the aircraft end when I noticed Glen walking down the jetway toward the airplane with the outbound flight attendants before any other passengers boarded. Having grown up loving his songs (and at the time singing in Southern Gospel quartets), I quickly entered the cockpit and began singing "There ought to be a hall of fame for mammas," one of my favorites, loud enough for him to hear. Wouldn't you know it, he started singing it with me! As he sang the lead part, I started singing the tenor part. After we finished, the flight attendants clapped and I got to meet one of my true icons. It was one of the most special days of my life! The song, "I'm not Gonna Miss You," rips me up inside every time I hear it. Hopefully one day I can sing with him again in the bye-and-bye.

This song makes me cry as does the one his daughter Ashley wrote for him. So many lives are affected by Alzheimers. A horrible illness that strips a person of their dignity and memories. The affect on families is devasting. A cure needs to be found.
