This a great song; I first heard it on The Beatles Live at The Star Club album; this is quite different, obviously since it is a studio production. Here the melody is far more recognisable while The Beatles version has rockin' guitar riffs instead of the rather sedate piano. I do not think the Beatles ever recorded a studio version, if they had done it would have been great I am sure.
I thought I knew a lot about early 60s music but this song has just been discovered by me...fantastic !! Playing many versions of it now. As a reward : I approached a young girl at a dance and I asked where she had been all my life. She looked me up and down and said, " I haven't been around for three quarters of it !!"
yup my apologies. i meant the star club version too. arthur alexander's version is nice too, but since i heard this one first, its probably why i stick by it.
